Flycatchers! – Monthly Virtual Meeting

Zoom Online

What even is a flycatcher? How do we tell the difference between them!? Everyone is welcome to join us for this introduction to flycatchers as the topic of choice for our May monthly virtual meeting. We will cover the basics and then, if you are still intrigued, you can join us and the Missouri Birding Society for a more in-depth webinar about flycatchers the following Monday! We will, of course, also be up to our usual antics of playing virtual games to get to know one another and talk birds.  Register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZItduyrrzwqGde4v0GOTbodxVRfkjkJP9sJ  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Join our young nature lovers group (ages 8-17) and our families for a fantastic field trip to Montauk State Park! We will meet at the Old Stone Shelter (old 'CCC' shelter on website) and then proceed to bird around the area. There will be bathroom facilities nearby. Make sure to dress for the weather - it can make a big difference in the level of enjoyment. We hope you can join us for birding fun!  Sign-up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4FABA923A2F5CF8-field4 If you live out of the area and still wish to join us to possibly see some beautiful Cerulean Warblers, you can consider camping in one of the nearby parks. Flycatchers, Kingbirds, and Phoebes in Missouri – Webinar with MBS!

Zoom Online

Flycatchers, Kingbirds, and Phoebes in Missouri, a Zoom-based Webinar bird identification workshop sponsored by the Missouri Birding Society, Missouri Young Birders Club, and Missouri River Bird Observatory is open to all.  The workshop, at 7 p.m., May 23, is presented by Tim Barksdale. Tim began birding in the St. Louis area and Massachusetts as an 8 year old, and now has the second-highest life list of Missouri birds at 395. While employed by Discovery, Nat Geo and Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Tim has filmed birds and wildlife throughout the western hemisphere for over 30 years. Currently directing and producing a film for national PBS, Tim continues to focus on Missouri from his base in Callaway County. His enthusiasm for birds is infectious as he shares identification pointers for tyrant flycatchers we may see during nesting season, migration or as vagrants. Register in advance for this webinar: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_d_Ze_5sRTOK91RpKKC7TbQ After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
