Guest Speaker on Bird Nesting!

June 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Join us for our June Monday Monthly Meeting with guest speaker, Kelly Koch! Kelly is an interpreter at the Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center located in Roaring River State Park. She grew up learning about birds in her grandmothers’ gardens. Today Kelly leads hikes, field trips and games that help her visitors learn about natural resources and Roaring River State Park History.

Kelly is going to be teaching us about the unique architecture and building materials of bird’s nests. Imagine building your very own room out of mud! Or weaving a cozy home where you could protect your chicks. Birds have all sorts of tricks they use to protect their young.  After the program, Kelly will encourage club members to go out into their own backyard for a bird’s nest scavenger hunt.  After collecting materials as a bird would, we will craft our own bird nest!  We hope that club members will complete the activity and share their creations after the presentation.
