Field Trip! – Arrow Rock State Historic Site
February 5, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
UPDATE! TIME CHANGE! Due to weather and possible road conditions, this event has been moved from the morning to the afternoon from 2-4 pm. We hope you can still join us!
We hope you can join us in our hunt for our winter visitors: Brown Creeper, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Purple Finch, Dark-eyed Junco, White-throated Sparrow, and Winter Wren! We will likely also see some of our old favorites such as Red-tailed and Red-shouldered Hawks, Kinglets, Cedar Waxwings, and woodpeckers galore!
We will start at 9 a.m. and meet in the visitor center parking lot. Bathrooms will be available at the J. Huston Tavern on Main Street. We will bird around the town of Arrow Rock, including the Big Spring, Pierre a la Fleché Trail, and parts of the campground trail and River Landing Trail, for about 1.5 miles. Physical exertion will be moderate with some steep inclines and declines. We will end back at the visitor center around 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome!
Participants should bring binoculars (if you have them) and reusable water bottles. For those who do not own binoculars, sets will be provided.
